Recently in the news there has been an uproar conserning the Trayvon Martin shooting in Florida about a week ago. Many people are taking this issue as a rasict problem and view Trayon as a victim of a crazy man wanting to attack someone. We can look at this issue from verses in the bible that support the idea that racism should not be an issue.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28
Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment. John 7:24
These verses obvioulsy show that whether a person is white or red, it doesn't make a difference the color of your skin. Everyone should be treated equally, because God loves everyone no matter what they look like. It is funny to see this issue blow up in the news when it is obvious what the real issue is. Racism is a growing issue and has truly never gone away in history. No matter what happens with this Trayvon case, the issue of racism will remain.
That is true. It is unfortunate that we cannot all learn to live together in peace and harmony. While America is supposed to be the land of the free, but it seems that many people are constrained based on their race. It's 2012, but discrimination seems to be prevalent in our society. Unfortunately, the problems will always persist as long as we find it acceptable to judge a man by the color of their skin and not by their character. While Trayvon has had issues with the law in the past, and even though he may have been confrontational, he did not have a gun and did not deserve to be murdered.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. Even though the issue remains, it is important to view situations such as this one to make our world a better place.
